Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine is unique in many ways. In addition to being one of the few schools in the United States and abroad to offer a classical Chinese medicine curriculum, Jung Tao provides students an affordable education in acupuncture compared with other institutions. At a current cost of $11,400 per year, the cost of a Jung Tao education remains considerably below the national average.
Jung Tao School was the first acupuncture school in the nation to offer a “modular” academic calendar. Students are required to be on campus in Sugar Grove, NC once per month for 5 days of contiguous classes plus three clinical observations weekends for the first three years. This modular schedule continues into the fourth year, when students become clinic interns and provide care in our community clinic in 4-5 day block rotation. This type of calendar allows professionals to maintain employment in many cases and provides a feasible option for parents and others who are unable to re-locate to North Carolina for the entirety of the program.
Jung Tao School highly values scientific research and as such participates in studies to validate the efficacy of acupuncture. For instance, Jung Tao has partnered with other well-known acupuncture schools to research the effect of acupuncture on anxiety and depression as measured by serologic markers. Jung Tao’s interns participate in such cutting edge research and take pride in directly contributing the body of evidence supporting acupuncture as a powerful healing modality.
Jung Tao School is located in the breathtaking mountains of Western North Carolina, a short 15-minute drive from the vibrant college town of Boone. The campus is serene and pastoral, with classes held in an historic stone building exuding with character and providing ample space for classrooms, labs, and a bustling community acupuncture clinic. Our campus includes access to a nearby creek, walking track, picnic area, children’s playground, basketball court, and a soccer field in which we sometimes practice Taijiquan and Qigong exercises.
