Series: Chinese Dietary Therapy and Taoist Dietary Practices

March 30, 2019 - March 31, 2019

Weekend #2: Principles of Chinese Food Therapy Applied to Modern Western Diets

As practitioners we field questions daily from patients asking about popular nutritional trends and weight loss diets. In this exciting class, learn how to analyze those modern Western dietary trends from a Chinese medicine perspective. Sarah will choose a few of the most popular diets and discuss their merits and problems, through the lens of the nutritional values of foods and their Chinese medicine energetic properties.

Sarah Girard, L.Ac., began studying Chinese dietary therapy in 1999. In 2009, she completed an extended Chinese Dietary Program through the Chinatown Wellness Center in New York City with Jeffrey Yuen. Sarah is a grand rounds instructor, clinical supervisor, and teaches energetics foundational classes at JTS.

Dietary Therapy 3-Part Series

Decades of confusing information has led the public to chronic obesity and metabolic disease. As practitioners of Chinese medicine, we have powerful tools for patients who are open to moving from the Standard American Diet (SAD). This cutting edge 3-part series gives you the information you need to counsel your patients on traditional Chinese and Daoist concepts of healthy eating and lifestyle.

Taught by JTS faculty Sarah Girard, L.Ac., and JTS Board Chair Shawn Arthur, Ph.D, this series is not to be missed!
